The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) pest warning team on Thursday arrested one Sajjad from suburban area of Kabirwala on the charge of being involved in heinous business of fake pesticides. The raiding team headed by Mian Attique Ahmad, Assistant Director Pest Warning Wing District Khanewal also recovered carbofuron and other fake pesticides worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, said a spokesman of the Punjab Agriculture Department.
The team got registered a case against the owners of the factory 'Arshad Cotton Factory' and two others namely Aurangzeb and Sajjad. Sajjad was arrested on the spot by the raiding team. It was also disclosed that fake pesticides confiscated from the scene were bearing label of Time Agro Company while it also recovered empty bags in large quantity. The raiding team head said that samples of all the confiscated pesticides have been sent to laboratory for analysis. He claimed that Aurangzeb who has been nominated in the First Information Report (FIR) is a known criminal and also had record of running fake pesticide business in Multan.
